Five WDU Courses Begin This Week!
Writing Historical Fiction
Join Donna Russo Morin to learn the definition of historical markers and how and where to unearth them. And uncover the tools to integrate history, research, and the fiction plot arc. Most of all, find out how to honor verisimilitude—the goal of any historical writing—and avoid the dreaded anachronism.
Writing the Picture Book
Picture books are one of the most delightful—and important—genres in all of literature. In this course, you'll learn how to write a winning picture book narrative, envision it with illustrations, and put together a picture package that a publisher will really notice.
Query Letter in 14 Days
Take your writing one step further and tackle the publishing process. When you enroll in this online course, you'll learn the details of the query letter format and how to write a query letter that catches the attention of agents and publishers.
Short Story Fundamentals
Throughout this four-week course, you will have feedback and support while you write and hone an entire short story from beginning to end, and you'll leave with a polished draft of your story. You will get insider information about what editors are looking for in short stories they choose to publish. Literary journals are always looking for quality stories, and with the advances in online submissions, getting your work in front of an editor has never been easier.
Freelance Writing for Stay at Home Moms (and Dads)
Have you wanted to become a writer, but let your busy life as a mom get in the way of writing? Here’s your chance to launch a freelance writing career—and complete writing jobs from home. You might already possess many of the skills necessary to break into writing from being a parent—persistence, time management, dedication and patience. If you take these skills and apply them to your writing, you’ll be one step closer to becoming a freelance writer.

Last Chance To Register for Our Agent One-on-One: First 10 Pages Boot Camp!
As many writers know, agents and editors won't give your work more than 10 pages or so to make an impact. If you haven't got them hooked by then, it's a safe bet you won't be asked for more material. Make sure you've got the kind of opening they're looking for! In this invaluable event, you'll get to work with an agent to review and refine the first 10 pages of your novel or nonfiction book. You'll learn what keeps an agent reading, what are the most common mistakes that make them stop, and the steps you need to take to correct them. The best part is that you'll be working directly with an agent, who will provide feedback specific to your work.
