- Write a survive the day poem.

Write a poem every single day of the year with Robert Lee Brewer's Poem-a-Day: 365 Poetry Writing Prompts for a Year of Poeming. After sharing more than a thousand prompts and prompting thousands of poems for more than a decade, Brewer picked 365 of his favorite poetry prompts here.

Here’s my attempt at a Seize the Day and/or Survive the Day Poem:
“carpe diem (&/or bust)”
I always think I'll be the best
before I find I rue the day
because everything is a mess.
I always think I'll be the best
until I'm put against the test
& have to scratch & claw a way.
I always think I'll be the best
before I find I rue the day.
