For the 2025 November PAD Chapbook Challenge, poets write a poem a day in November. Day 18 is to write an optimistic and/or pessimistic poem.
For today’s Two-for-Tuesday prompt:
- Write an optimistic poem, and/or...
- Write a pessimistic poem.
Remember: These prompts are springboards to creativity. Use them to expand your possibilities, not limit them.

Here’s my attempt at an Optimistic and/or Pessimistic Poem:
“What I See”
Glass half full
or empty,
why bother—
there's always
more to drink
and to fill,
and the end
is always
out of sight.
(Note on my form today: For the second consecutive Tuesday, I decided to write a tricube, because I'm either a poem half full or half empty type of poet.)
