2022 November PAD Chapbook Challenge: Day 25
For the 2022 November PAD Chapbook Challenge, poets are tasked with writing a poem a day in the month of November before assembling a chapbook manuscript in the month of December. Day 25 gets serious.
For today's prompt, write a serious poem. Maybe work is serious...or shopping. Or dealing with leftovers. Or well, you know what constitutes serious for you.
Remember: These prompts are springboards to creativity. Use them to expand your possibilities, not limit them.

Here’s my attempt at a Serious Poem:
“Getting Serious”
A joke is often my first response
to something that scares me.
The more serious, the more
I want to make it light. Maybe
that's what drives comedians:
They see so much that's serious
that they need to make a joke,
or else the world might break.
