2024 November PAD Chapbook Challenge: Day 20
For the 2024 November PAD Chapbook Challenge, poets are tasked with writing a poem a day in the month of November before assembling a chapbook manuscript in the month of December. Day 20 is to write a metaphor poem.
For today’s prompt, write a metaphor poem. For those who may be a little rusty on their similes and metaphors, similes are things that are "like" or "as" other things, while metaphors are actually other things. For instance, a cloud could "be like a dragon" (simile) or a cloud could "be a dragon" (metaphor).
Remember: These prompts are springboards to creativity. Use them to expand your possibilities, not limit them.

Here’s my attempt at a Metaphor Poem:
“Metaphor of Life,” by Robert Lee Brewer
I don't want to hear that life
is like a box of chocolates
or like a mountain railroad,
because those are similes.
I'd rather know that life is
a haunted house filled with
scary props and bad actors
trying to put the fear of
something (anything) into me
and when I make it through
to the very end and back
into the light, I can relax
and know everything is OK.
