Everything you write is an opportunity to practice your craft, whether it's a sympathy note, a personal letter, an e-mail message, or an anecdote in your journal. Express yourself as well as you can at that particular moment. Don't settle for bits and pieces. Don't tell yourself this doesn't count as real writing. Good writing is a habit. Rewrite everything. Make every piece of writing the best it can be.
