Sarah L. Kaufman is a Pulitzer Prize-winning critic and a writing teacher. For nearly three decades she reported on the arts, culture, science and sports for The Washington Post. She also writes for The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Review of Books, The Boston Globe and others. A former McGraw Professor of Writing at Princeton University, she has taught journalism and criticism in Harvard’s Continuing Education program and leads writing workshops around the country. She was a 2024 Penn State Foster-Foreman Distinguished Writer and has received journalism fellowships from the Nieman Foundation and the French-American Foundation Her debut book, The Art of Grace: On Moving Well Through Life, was a Washington Post Notable Book and won the Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers Award and a Spirituality & Practice Award.
