Mark Sarvas

Mark Sarvas is the award-winning author of the novels Memento Park (FSG, Picador), Harry, Revised (Bloomsbury), and @UGMAN (ITNA Press). Memento Park won the 2019 American Book Award and the American Jewish Library Association’s Fiction Award, while Harry, Revised was published internationally and earned critical acclaim, drawing comparisons to Philip Roth and John Updike. His criticism and book reviews have appeared in The New York Times Book Review, The Threepenny Review, Bookforum, The Los Angeles Review of Books (where he is a contributing editor), and more. He is a member of PEN/America and the National Book Critics Circle and has judged numerous literary prizes including the PEN Center USA Fiction Award. Mark launched his literary career with the influential blog The Elegant Variation, which was named a Guardian Top 10 Literary Blog and featured in The New York Times, NPR, and Slate. His short fiction has appeared in The Drawbridge, Troika, The Wisconsin Review, and others. He teaches advanced novel writing at UCLA Extension and holds an MFA from Bennington College. He lives on the Monterey Peninsula and publishes the occasional newsletter Eternal Recurrence.
