Bob Brody, an executive and essayist in New York City, is author of the memoir, Playing Catch with Strangers: A Family Guy (Reluctantly) Comes of Age, from Heliotrope Books. This piece is adapted from a presentation made to The American Society Of Journalists & Authors. Brody has freelanced as a writer for more than 40 years, both full time and as a sideline. He has contributed to many magazines and newspapers, including The New York Times, The Atlantic, The Washington Post and Esquire.
