Everything was white and grey. I was bundled up in a coat, hat and mittens and watching wide-eyed at everything around me, marveling at even the tiniest footprint in the snow or the shivering of a tree branch. The only color I really saw was the green sled underneath me and the tan of my dad’s boots as he pulled me along down the streets of my hometown, his feet making crunching sounds and the soft shushing of the sled.
“Go faster, Daddy!” I said. I wanted to feel the crisp air move past my cheeks. I loved moving fast. Dad complied and the sled picked up speed and I giggled happily. I didn’t know it at the time, but seeing the trees and the houses covered with a blanket of white would be the most beautiful memory I now possess.
