1. ALLi’s Self-Publishing Advice Center 

The Alliance of Independent Authors “is a professional business membership organization that advises, campaigns for, and empowers self-publishing authors.” Their advice center offers a blog and podcast, handbooks to delve deeper into complex topics, courses, and a watchdog rating database to help writers find reputable help and avoid scams. 

2. Author Level Up

Hosted by author Michael La Ronn, Author Level Up provides both written and video resources for self-published writers on a wide range of topics including things like productivity, best writing tools, tips for working with other professionals in the business, and much more. 

3. Independent Book Publishers Association 

IBPA makes it easier for independent book publishers and self-published authors to navigate the publishing process. Paid members receive access to the education hub with articles, webinars, podcasts, and more, as well as sample contracts, networking events and conferences, discounts on editorial and design services, marketing, and business management. 

4. Indie Author Magazine* 

A print and digital magazine founded during the COVID-19 pandemic, Indie Author Magazine aims to “inform, educate, and empower authors at every stage of their writing journey” through informational articles, educational webinars, and trusted resources. Much is available for free, but subscribers receive additional benefits. 

5. The Indy Author

A respected voice in the indie publishing community, Matty Dalrymple hosts The Indy Author and “The Indy Author” podcast. She says she “speak[s] with experts who can provide the support we need on our author journeys.” New episodes come out weekly along with detailed show notes. 

6. Kindlepreneur 

Through Kindlepreneur, you’ll learn everything you need to get your book in front of more readers, make more sales, and build your author career. The website hosts free courses, tools, articles, videos, full guides, and more. The newsletter itself has more than 325,000 subscribers.
