Wednesday Poetry Prompts: 586
For today's prompt, write a scary poem. It's Halloween season in our neck of the woods, but scary is not limited to only werewolves, witches, and vampires. No, there are deadlines, breakups, and finances that scare people as well, not to mention homework, heights, and public speaking. So ponder the scary recesses of your mind and then poem the scary out.
Remember: These prompts are springboards to creativity. Use them to expand your possibilities, not limit them.

Here’s my attempt at a Scary Poem:
“peripheral,” by Robert Lee Brewer
the scariest things always lurk
just beyond where my head jerks
i feel them looking from afar
but i can't find where they are
late at night when the trash goes out
i'm sure they'll confirm my doubts
but i'm so sly and so cunning
i don't look while i'm running
from my front door out to the curb
and back so quick unobserved
the scariest things always hide
just beyond my line of sight
