Pitch Agents at Conferences in Alabama, New Orleans, and Kansas City

Publish date:

2017 approaches fast, and that means another busy season of writers conferences is at your door.

If you want to get great instruction on publishing and also pitch your work to agents who are building their client list, attend a writers conference in early 2017.

Let me share some of them that will have literary agents in attendance, as well as possibly a Writer's Digest editor/staffer in attendance, as well. What I like about some of these conferences is they are all in cities that don't have a ton of writing events. These events are a rare chance for regional writers to meet agents face to face.

Feb. 24, 2017: The Writers Conference of Alabama in Birmingham, AL. There are sessions on agents & queries, getting published, marketing your books, amazing first pages, and more. It doesn't matter what kind of project you are working on -- there is at least one faculty member who is waiting to meet you at this event. Six agents will be attendance to meet writers.

March 25, 2017: Kansas City Writers Conference in Kansas City, MO. This one-day conference already has seven literary agents lined up to meet with writers and take pitches. It's designed to be a thorough one-day crash course on how to get published and take the next steps in your career.

April 22, 2017: New Orleans Writing Workshop in New Orleans, LA. Come down to The Big Easy and learn everything you need to know about publishing options, literary agents, how to get published, and more. Confirmed agent/editor faculty so far includes representation from Fuse Literary, Donaghy Literary, and others. The day's speaker is literary agent and publishing teacher Marisa Corvisiero.

Like planning WAY ahead? I have to throw out the dates of the 2017 Writer's Digest Conference in NYC: August 18-20, 2017. We had 800 attendees (and 64 attending literary agents) last year and the event was an amazing smash. Come join us in 2017.
