Oscar nominations!

My personal picks (in the main categories)…

BEST PICTURE:  “Up” (although they’ll never give it to an animated film, so if I have to pick a live-action film: “Inglorious Basterds”

ACTOR:  Jeremy Renner (“The Hurt Locker”)

ACTRESS:  Gabourney Sidibe (“Precious”)

SUPPORTING ACTOR:  Christopher Waltz (“Inglorious Basterds”)

SUPPORTING ACTRESS:  Monique (“Precious”)

DIRECTOR:  I’m torn between James Cameron, who did an amazing job and deserves some kind of recognition, and Quentin Tarantinio, because I like “Inglorious Basterds” better than “Avatar.”  I think.  It depends on my mood.  But right now, I’m gonna go with Quentin Tarantino.

SCREENPLAY:  Bob Peterson & Pete Doctor (“Up”)

ADAPTED SCREENPLAY:  Neill Blomkamp & Terri Tatchell (“District 9”)  (Although I think this will probably go to “Precious”… which bums me out a bit.  While I loved the performances in that movie, and it had some amazing moments, I actually thought a lot of it was slow and boring…)
