The Best Conference of 2011!

The best conference of 2011–at least for writers looking to get a book
published–is happening next weekend in New York City (January 21-23): The Writer’s Digest Conference.
Held at the Sheraton Hotel & Towers (between Times Square and
Central Park in Manhattan), this is the perfect opportunity to mix the
business side of writing with pleasure.

Here are some of the highlights of the conference:

  • Pitch slam. This is one of the more unique features of any
conference around. Writers get face-to-face time with their choice of
more than 50 literary agents. While the conference doesn’t promise a
sale, several success stories have emerged from these pitch slams over
    the years.
  • Intensive workshops and bootcamps. A new feature for our writing conference, these sessions get a little more in depth than your typical panel or presentation.
  • Expert sessions. Of course, that’s not to say that the
regular sessions aren’t truly top notch. In fact, there are so many
amazing sessions at each time that it’s doubtful you’ll be able to
    attend everyone you want.

However, if you want to gather some nuggets from the other sessions, follow the #wdc11
hashtag. Of course, if you’re unable to attend, then this is a great
way to follow from home (though you may end up kicking yourself for not
attending).

Here’s one final reason to attend the Writer’s Digest Conference: Check out the winter wonderland that is Central Park and go skating at Rockefeller Center.
