The best conference of 2011–at least for writers looking to get a book
published–is happening next weekend in New York City (January 21-23): The Writer’s Digest Conference.
Held at the Sheraton Hotel & Towers (between Times Square and
Central Park in Manhattan), this is the perfect opportunity to mix the
business side of writing with pleasure.
Here are some of the highlights of the conference:
- Pitch slam. This is one of the more unique features of any
conference around. Writers get face-to-face time with their choice of
more than 50 literary agents. While the conference doesn’t promise a
sale, several success stories have emerged from these pitch slams over
- Intensive workshops and bootcamps. A new feature for our writing conference, these sessions get a little more in depth than your typical panel or presentation.
- Expert sessions. Of course, that’s not to say that the
regular sessions aren’t truly top notch. In fact, there are so many
amazing sessions at each time that it’s doubtful you’ll be able to
attend everyone you want.
