Think of Writing Sessions as Entertainment

The Writer’s Book of Wisdom

Better than going to the stadium to root for the home team, certainly better than attending a community theater production (almost always performed by amateurs), better than concerts, television, movies.

Your thoughts and words are easily as interesting to explore as any prepackaged commercial confection. To write a story or an essay is to watch its drama unfold.

If writing isn’t fun for you, how can you expect anyone to have fun reading your work?

Your “hot ticket” seat is next to no one, in crowd of one, at the desk. Honor the first duty of the writer, which is to entertain readers, and entertain your steadfast first reader: yourself
