Reading as a writer means that whenever something you read wows you, it’s not enough to saw wow: You must figure out why. Is it the way the words fit together on the page? The characters or their interactions? The turns of plot? The movement in time or stream of consciousness? The way you can’t put the book down? How does the author make that happen? How? How? How?
