The big day has finally arrived; my 50th birthday. Today, June 1st. Why am I telling you all? Well, first because I consider you to be new friends. But also because, after all, I wrote a whole dang book on the subject! Well, okay, co-wrote.
But still. I’m supposed to be some kind of an expert on turning fifty, and doing it with style and grace. Our book is chock full of ideas about how to make this a smooth transition. So now it’s time to practice what I preach, put my money where my mouth is, etc etc. Right? Oughtta be a piece of cake. But to be honest, I have been a little nervous about it. Fifty sounds, well, OLD!
Actually, I’m really happy about the way I have spent my birthday. Today I played two soccer games in an Over-30 women’s tournament, which started yesterday. Our team came in second! So that was cool, to know that I’m “in my fifties” and still in playing shape.
And of course, as with every birthday, I woke up this morning feeling just the same as yesterday, when I was “in my forties.” I think it’s going to take me a while to get used to saying “I’m fifty” or “I’m in my fifties,” but so far I have made it unscathed. Whew!
Happy My Birthday to you all!
