I just saw a documentary on Ian Rankin, the Scottish crime writer who is wildly popular at the moment. I found it interesting that he just sits down to write — no outline, no character profile, no anything up front. I can’t remember if he said he ever suffers from “Writer’s block” but he did say he occasionally hit a snag and had to wrestle with it for a few days before he could continue.
I believe in a “creative block”, not necessarily limited to writers. I’m sure songwriters, artists, poets, etc. also experience it from time to time.
