The people who say they don’t have writer’s block, do get it.
No, the people who say they don’t get it, don’t get it. Because they don’t accept its existence. They continue to write, even when they don’t want to, even when they’re stuck, even when it turns out garbage. It’s the monster in the closet for writers – some people think every little noise proves there is a monster in there; others open the door and take out the day’s wardrobe.
Yes, when I can’t write its not because I have “writer’s block”. Usually, its just a symptom of something else. I can tell because if I can’t write, its not because I don’t feel like writing, its because I don’t feel like doing anything. Simply calling it “writer’s block” would hide the real problem.
