How exactly do you scorn a woman, anyway?  

I ask because I think I’ve done it without meaning to do it, or maybe I just said something that sounded scornful to my wife – right at the precise moment when a single, well intentioned, barely uttered, mildly inquisitive comment was my intention.  Oh well…

It’s easy to avoid scorning a woman.  Simply limit your vocabulary to “Yes, dear,” and “No, dear.”   Just be sure to use each at the appropriate time.  If, for example, your wife mentions another woman, and says, “She’s beautiful, isn’t she?”  do not say “Yes, dear.”
