So I can send a query letter to a mag that doesn’t take unsolicited material for an article?

…of course… that’s what freelancers do all the time…

I’ve never seen a query for anything like this. Where would I go to learn how to write one? I imagine it would not be the same as for a book.

…it’s a bit different, but not totally… i’ve been one and now mentor lots of freelancers, so email me if you want some help with it…

Also, who would I send it to? These places don’t even have a person listed to send a query to.

…go here: http://www.duotrope.com for listings… check the site of each one you think would be fitting for your piece and follow their submission guidelines… if no name is listed, find a copy at the library or a newsstand and check out the masthead for the various editors’ names and address your query to the one that seems most appropriate…
