laurenmead – 2009-09-16 8:50 PM Thank you for responding to me, now I feel welcomed. I have been concentrating on learning to write for the last few years, practicing almost daily, along with working with a mentor and devouring every book on craft I can find. I have only submitted one thing ever, and that was the last “my story” here at WD. I’m deciding whether I’m ready to start submitting things elsewhere. But I don’t really know the whole writing biz that well. How do you know when you’re “ready”?[/QUOTE]

Hi Lauren.

I’m still new myself, but I was thinking about being ready and as far as I can tell, no one ever feels ready.  Still, there is only one way to learn how to swim.  At some point, you just have to take a deep breath and get in the water.  At least here…well, you know it is never a good idea to go swiming alone.
