Colossians 3:13 Forgive, as the Lord forgave you. We have been given the power to forgive just as the Teachers of the law and the Pharisees had that day.
I think this refers to forgiving people for things they’ve done against us. God has forgiven us, and in turn, asks that we forgive others. But man doesn’t have the power to absolve sins that only God can forgive. There are sins against other people (lying, cheating, stealing, etc.) And then there are sins against God. (idolatry, using God’s name in vain, etc.) We can’t forgive sins committed against God. Only God can. We can, and must forgive people for sins committed against us, thought I believe they also need to seek God’s forgiveness.
