I have to say that I stand for the reason we went in there in the first place– to offer liberty from a tyrannical regime, and to rid us of the terrorists who would show no mercy to us.
When we went over, we didn’t target the civilians, we went for the leaders. They target civilians and leaders alike.
The fact that we’re still over there, and that there are so many organizations profiting from this war does get to me, though. Part of me says “We’ve got Saddam, we’ve liberated the people. now let’s back out.” But the other half of my mind says, “The last time a Bush invaded, we pulled out too soon, and that’s the reason we’re back in there now. If we don’t finish the job this time, all our efforts will have been in vain, and we’ll find ourselves right back over there in a few more years.
Here’s my prediction. As soon as we back out, Iraq will fall into civil war, and the terrorist groups will start hitting our country hard. They’re going to be taking revenge, and pulling out all the stops. The only way to prevent that is to get rid of the terrorists, and that is going to take time.
I appreciate all the soldiers who gave their lives for our freedom. But a greater sacrifice is that they’re over in Iraq now giving their lives for the freedom of a nation that hates them. Now THAT is Honorable.
