Penciled One. You look like you’re still in school, or was recently. I can understand your reluctance to listen to the teacher in your head, who might say: “You will hand in your three page critique of the essay (chapter, poem, story, book) by the end of class Friday. I will not accept any excuses for late papers. You’ve had plenty of time to do this. Remember this will count as a third of your grade this semester”.
And, yes, you probably do have a short attention span. You grew up surrounded with stimuli coming at you. You’re probably good at video games. Someday I hope you will be able to experience quiet, uninterupted afternoons of reading good books, ones that take you on journeys to other times, other places, ones that envelope you in adventure, romance, and mystery, taking your breath away.
