I’m with you, Jai. I’ve never understood what all the hoopla about King was/is. It’s great that he definitley paid his dues way back when…but lots of people have paid/are paying their dues. He seems like a pretty neat person (what we learn about him in the rare interview)…but there’s lots of neat people, a lot of you are neat people…hell, I think I’m a neat person. And he writes well, he understands the craft…but so do lots of other people. I don’t think it’s so much that he’s a brilliant writer. It boils down to the fact that his very strange and creative mind appeals to the masses…so his books sell, and they sell big. And that is what makes him a success.

And I think if we really tear it all down it’s those numbers, the sales, not “brilliant writing” that make him the topic of every single writing group on earth.
