I pretty much neve rfeel anything when I’m writing. This is doubly true with short stories. I’m too in the zone, writing on automatic pilot. I’m concentrating on just telling the story in the best way possible, and making teh characters as realistic as I can.
Thank goodness you posted this. Based on other comments I was beginning to worry that I was the only person who doesn’t feel the emotions of the story as I’m writing. I try not to because, in my case, I am likely to start day dreaming if I get caught up in emotion. When that happens I don’t usually finish the story. I wouldn’t say I am detached when writing, but I keep my emotions in check as much as possible (otherwise I get too emotional and become unproductive).
