Pat, you won’t feed buffalo to your dog unless you’re one of those people who feeds their dog filet mignon. There was a buffalo farm just off I-79 at the Edinboro, PA exit where I went to college. I even toured one elsewhere in the state. It is true that buffalo are making a comeback, and a lot of that is due to the growing demand for them.
And speaking of growing up in Pennsylvania, yes I have eaten venison. Pennsylvania actually has more hunters per capita than any other state. Hell, the Monday after Thanksgiving is even a state holiday because it’s the first day of deer season. That being said, I personally don’t hunt, but have nothing against those who do. As far as how venison tastes, it all depends on how it’s cooked. I didn’t like deer steaks at all, but when packed with spices and made into meatballs or jerky, it can be downright tasty.
Other exotic foods I’ve tasted include rattlesnake and allegator. Both taste like rubbery chicken. They were okay, and I’m glad to have had the experience, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat them again.
And to mammamaia, I agree with you about humans and monkeys.
