I have to say I’m inclined to agree with you. I’ve subscribed to GlimmerTrain since I started submitting stories to them and, short of a very few, haven’t found their selections to be in my taste. The same for many other literary journals that I’ve checked out lately. Fortunately, there are a few out there that I do enjoy. Those are the ones that I now submit my work to. Even if I get a rejection
( I’ll re-phrase that and say “when” I get one), I know I’ll most likely appreciate the stories they have chosen…most likely because those stories are written in a style (or with content) that’s similar to my own.
That said, GlimmerTrain is a highly respected publication and many accolades have been bestowed upon their authors (including “Best Short Story” awards)…so who am I to criticize?
