Favorite childhood book? That’s GOT to be “Rhymes Without Reason” by Mervyn Peake, especially”

I waxes and I wanes, sir.
I ebbses and I flows.
Some says it is my brain, sir,
Some says it is my nose.
It isn’t that I’m slow, sir,
To cut a story long,
But I’d just LOVE to know, sir,
Which one of them is wrong.

It was beautifully illustrated, too. My grandkids are not going to know I have a copy until they are at least teenagers.
