first of all, you don’t submit anything till they ask to see it…

what you start with is a query letter… and if you write a good enough one and what you’re offering sounds marketable, you’ll be asked to submit either sample chapters, or the full ms…

at that point, you’ll either give them an exclusive submission, if that’s what they require, or pass on them and consider only agents who’ll accept simsubs…

in either case, 10 weeks is on the mid-to-low end of the waiting spectrum… most agents take several months to get back to you on queries, as well as on submitted work… check each one’s guidelines and be sure to follow them to the letter…
