Pegs,

I enjoy reading your well-written pieces like yours. Unfortunately, it is a story as old as human sexuality. The players change, but the emotional dynamics repeat themselves in an ongoing drama of relational dysfunction. What does seem to change is the ethical responsibility of those given the task of counseling those in crisis.

I agree with Maia and Georganna that posting precludes first rights. With that in mind, how about changing your thesis by focusing on the conflict of the professional? As societal values change (sometimes for economic reasons), the care-provider is frequently confronted with the dilemma of their professional objectivity versus their personal values, which are often in conflict with the treatment de jour, despite their training.

Thanks for the compliment and also for the great suggestion!
