I’ve seen chapters in some of Stephen King’s books that amounted to no more than a sentence.
I tend to write short chapters for the same reasons mentioned above. It’s how I see the scenes changing in my head. It can bring about a sense of urgency during the climax of the story. Plus, I like to change POV — let the other characters tell a bit of the story.
I think it all comes down to what feels right. If an agent/publisher wants you to lengthen or combine your chapters later, so be it.
