Two years of work were needed to establish a relationship with my first agent. During those two years I went hungry a few times, but gradually developed a reputation for being able to deliver accurate and timely frontline reports, background articles, and photos. I’ve never been known as a great writer, but always as a pretty-good writer, and once I connected with an agent was able to sell consistently. Getting an agent is essential. Agency staff take care of all the housekeeping, so to speak, and leave the writer free to look for stories and write.
I’ll rework ‘Baby Shoes’, put up the revised edition, and try not to step on los dedos del profesor.
Thanks for the encouragement.
