It takes two people to make and break a relationship. I’ve been in a few miserable ones but eventually learned I control me and me alone. I’ve left women I loved but could no longer live with because doing so would have destroyed one or both of us.

I lived on the edge of suicide for 35 years. I finally looked into the abyss, decided that wasn’t what I wanted, and backed away. I came away with a couple of beliefs. No one makes you commit suicide; that decision is yours alone. And, no matter how bad my situation, there is always someone somewhere who’s much worse off.

This, too, shall pass.
