This day always gives me pause. I am a dyed-in-the wool pacifist, a nonviolent Quaker by birth, and I vehemently opposed the invasion of Iraq. Yet every year on this day, and many days between, I feel overwhelmed by the enormity of the sacrifice our service men and women make. I have so much respect for those folks and what they go through. Some who go never come back, and those that do are changed forever. My heart aches for every single one of them.
