Because of the recent hijack of Georganna’s thread, I thought I’d start my own…and this is simply to inform women.
Breast cancer awareness month is in October.
I schedual my annual mammogram on my birthday every year (a little tip I picked up from Oprah).
Here is a stat that my shock some of you:
According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, yet 13 million U.S. women 40 years of age or older have never had a mammogram.
I wrote a humor piece that was published in my local paper (back a few years) about having your first mammogram (I asked for a hysterectomy for my 40th birthday, what I got instead was a mammogram)- yes it was a humor pece but I also included sidebars with great info
Mammograms are such a great tool for detecting early signs of breast cancer (and even abnormalities)…it is far to important to overlook and not get them done.
