I'm more of a worldbuilder than a plotter...

Postby BloodyHellSausage » Thu Sep 07, 2017 1:06 am

What I mean is, I like to come up with ideas for a world I'm trying to create, but I'm not so interested in making a plot. I think I prefer to come up with the world first, than the plot second. Is it okay if I just talk about worldbuilding ideas, maybe on the Sci-Fi/Fantasy critique forum?

I'm completely new to writing, and my world right now is just a collection of scrap ideas. I'd like to start travelling and see the world, because I believe that would cause me to become more inspired in my writing.

I'd just like to know if I'm in the right place. Thank you.

You can open discussions on any topic about writing that you wish.

As to inspiration - don't wait to travel for that. Look around you - it's there, just waiting for you to use it. ;)

I see critiquing as being more about the writing itself, than about the ideas within. So I wouldn't expect a worldbuilding discussion there.

That said, I don't see anything wrong with it.

Slowly putting together a "replacement" forum at http://writerswriting.proboards.com.

It's still under construction, but come take a look.

Welcome.

Talk about anything you want.
Setting is important too.

Keep in mind that a good novel will have plot, setting, characters, and more.
