Not sure where to put this, but if you want to include a link in your posts, DON'T use the URL button - just paste the link. Not sure why, but that seems to work. :?

Got it.
You ask me what I thought about
Before we were lovers.
The answer is easy.
Before I met you
I didn't have anything to think about.

OK, My ID works. UBB is still funky. "Too Few Characters" still happening.

I'm not gone yet, WD. Let's see if you actually fix this... stuff.

It's still under construction, but come take a look.

I was clicking the Disable BBCode on each post - then I realized I could change the default on my profile page (posting options).

Think it's time for a new forum?

Well, I've been involved in three others and one by one dropped out of all three. Mostly because they all had various "party lines" - ie, opinions about various aspects of writing - that you HAD to accept and follow or you ended up with a huge target on your back. And each of them had other peccadilloes that just kind of built up over time.

So,while this one has taken some major hits due to the PTB, and even though I haven't always agreed with some administrative decisions, it's one that has some pretty good discussions and really puts the focus on writing without a lot of unrelated crap. I mean, that's why I keep coming back, even after repeated technical troubles. I really think if WD can be convinced of the value of the forum, maybe we could get it built back up. But if this one shuts down - no, not interested in another one. Been there, done that, and I've learned just how difficult it is to find a good fit.

I see this at the top of the page, where advertising would be:

[phpBB Debug] PHP Warning: in file [ROOT]/includes/bbcode.php on line 483: preg_replace(): The /e modifier is no longer supported, use preg_replace_callback instead

That, folks, is telling us what we already know. The forum software is so old that it's using commands that don't even exist anymore.

I've said it before, I think it's applicable here. Developers develop for developers, not for end users. Whatever is easiest for them, that's the direction they go.

I'm totally speculating, but I'm thinking a developer updated PHP without knowing where it's being used.

Now this.

Like I said, they need a new forum.

In about ten days' time, Lillies Carol (remember Carol?) would have been frequenting this forum for TEN YEARS. It's a shame that, because she is unable to log in, we can't congratulate her or read more of her wonderful posts. I believe pls is also near the ten-year attendance mark. Me too, ten years this September. I miss the old lively forum. Perhaps if we all post something every day we could build up traffic to its former level.
Read samples of my Martian series (by Dorothy Piper) and two romances (by Joni Havel) on Smashwords.
Hard copies of all are on Amazon.

I joined in 2008, so I'm getting close also. And I sure do miss how lively this forum was 10 years ago!
