"It seems rather like wanting to be ... a writer, rather than wanting to write. It should be a by-product, not a thing in itself. Otherwise, it's just an ego trip." - Roger Zelazny

It's really not that hard. Just tell me a story.

Slowly putting together a "replacement" forum at http://writerswriting.proboards.com.

It's still under construction, but come take a look.

I would like to suggest a change in the way we vote. I believe we should vote first for the party whose policies and ideals we believe in, and then let everybody, regardless of party politics, vote for a person from the winning party to lead the country. That way personal animosity should not affect the vote.

What if we no longer believe in either party? What if all the third parties only contain bits and pieces of what we believe in?

I certainly agree that things need to change. Both the Democratic and Republican parties have become deaf to what people actually want and need. I also think there needs to be a change in the election process (the electoral college for one). But mainly, people have to quit talking and start listening - not only party leaders and candidates, but people. As I noted earlier, telling someone you disagree with to sit down and shut up doesn't change their views - just the opposite. And our societal willingness (indeed, pressure) to silence those we disagree with led to this outcome.

As to Trump changing - at his age, with his history and background - good luck with that. Look at the people he's already surrounded himself with. The only thing we can hope for is that we last the four years this guy, this very dangerous guy in so many ways, is in charge.

If Donald Trump hands over more important duties to dependable people like Mike Pence, we might be in for a less turbulent ride than we expected.
