Since WD changed up the Forums, I apparently have a learning curve. I usually use a polling tool to have people sign up for the Holiday Story Exchange; this year, however, I'll have to make do with simple postings.
For those who have been a part of this event in the past, you already know the process. During the month of September, I will open up the opportunity for writers to sign up. In October, assuming we have enough participating writers, I'll distribute the names, and the stories will be due by early December. Cindy ("Gooblink") has agreed to assist us again this year, playing host to the secure website where the stories will be shared.
For those who haven't particiapted before, this is like it sounds: a story exchange. Participating writers will submit answers to a list of questions to me via the private message service available through the forums. Once all the answers have been received, the names/answers will be shuffled and distributed out with each writer receiving the answers from another writer. With that information, the writer will then create a story with the other writer as the main character. It can be any type of story; the options are not limited. Then, in December the stories will be posted on a secure website (so the writers can later seek publication if they so wish) and the fun continues. All the participants have the opportunity to read the story created about them, and then to guess who wrote each story. The writer with the most correct guesses will receive a gift (like a Starbucks gift card) for his/her effort.
I hope to have some new writers join us this year as this will be a special 5-year Anniversary. It's exciting to see this event continuing.
If there are any questions, please post them and I will answer as soon as possible.
