Hi,

I've recently started writing children's picture books and middle grade fiction. I've always enjoyed writing and still keep a journal to this day. I have a degree in English language and I'm a web content editor so I do plenty of copy writing at work. It only recently occurred to me though to try writing children's books. I have two young children and we are always reading and I absolutely LOVE children's books, so this genre feels natural to me but I have no idea if I'm any good or not. My mum thinks I am of course but she's biased ;)

So, here I am, as I'm sure I'll have loads of questions on this journey and will need a bit of moral support.

Good luck.
Read the material WD has on this topic.

Do NOT do the pictures yourself.
The publisher always want to do them.
Send a query or just the book verbiage but not any artwork.

Kid lit is different. Look at the guidance WD can provide so you don't waste time/effort on the wrong approach.
