Welcome Julia. Jump right in; the water is neither hot nor cold but it tends to run deep at times. The undertow is sure to sweep you in and  hold you for eternity. Or until you get a real job and don't have time for us. :)

Guten Tagen.  There are people of all ages here, ready to help you.

I don't speak German, but I hear it all the time from a wonderful writer--my granddaughter who calls me "Grossmuttie", which sounds like a term of infection.  She studies 3 languages in HS, in addition to the German she has studied on her own for 3 years.  She's decided to study Czech next (I plead for algebra and chemestry).  She swears we'll go traveling the world someday, but I suspect that after living with me for 17 years, she can't wait to leave her old Muttie behind.

Julia, welcome to the water(ing) hole...

Jack's blurb reminds me of something:

Is it ever too late for a writer to start

to release the words bound in your heart

If you find that time has pass you by

Stop what you're doing and ask yourself why

Have you ever tried to count the stars

Or hop on a rocket going to Mars

When did you last just sit and wonder

Why does the sky roar with thunder

Say it's ok to laugh when its funny

and play at the beach even though it's not sunny

Now is the time to take that great leap

The water is cold but never too deep

(OK, I know it's amature but it's Jack's fault - he made me do it)

Karen :)

Welcome to the insane asylum, Julia! Be afraid. Be very afraid. Oops, I forgot to say "Don't". Don't be afraid! :) That's it.
Post on Critique Central if you feel bold, and btw I love your username. ;)
Godspeed,
Lynne
