Introducing Authors at CraftFest

Postby TerryRodgers » Thu May 03, 2012 1:49 pm

Not exactly a success story, but I'm really excited about an opportunity I've just received. At ThrillerFest this year, I get to introduce several authors prior to them teaching a class. I have to write up something short and sweet. I'm sure there will be lots of drooling and stuttering. I hope it's John Sandford or Steve Berry or maybe even David Morrell, the creator of Rambo. Should I say something funny or just do the intro and sit down?

Congratulations Terry, that sounds like an exciting opportunity.

Just remember, the key to public speaking is to envision that you're naked, standing in front of a fully clothed audience (gee, maybe I have that backwards ... no wonder I never know what to do with my hands when I speak in front of a group ;-) Seriously, though, always remember the 5 B's: Be Brief, Brother, Be Brief. (But have fun with it, nonetheless.) Good luck -- I know you'll do great!

Congrats Terry,

Are you normally a humorous or sarcastic sort of fellow? I would go for funny, if for no other reason than to calm myself down. If they don't laugh, point it out to them for a chuckle or two. Good luck. Hope I get my stuff together in time to witness your intro.
