I always dreamed of writing a novel but was never able to get past the first sentence and of course then my career got in the way until I eventually retired and had plenty of time on my hands but the dream continued so I took a creative writing course and subscribed to Writer's Digest, eagerly anticipating each new issue, but even after all that I still can't seem to get past the first sentence.

I'm not making a living as a writer so it can't be a career, I wish it was.

I've had more success than I give myself credit for.

Whispered words and aching hand, shallow breath clearing the page of clutter - a heart lightened at the sight of my name in black ink.
