US English or UK English and how to promote a writing blog

I'm an English writer and I've written a story which is set in the US.
The issue which I'm having is because I'm British, I use UK English but because my story is set in America, I use US colloquialisms in my dialogues.
This makes the story feel really strange.
What should I do?

My next question is how do I promote a writing blog?

I'm trying a new concept which is ‘sequential narrative’ in the form of short blog posts (SNBP).
If a reader likes my first sequence/part, then they can ‘pass it forward’* and I will post the next one.
*Passing it Forward is not unconscious sharing/passing it around, it’s sharing knowing that others will enjoy the experience.

Use the English of the place you live.'

As for promoting a writer's blog, the only thing I've ever seen work well is writing books that become bestsellers. Then your blog will be extremely popular. Until then, there are thousands a widely published writers with blogs, websites, and everything else, so why would new writers ay attention to a blog that doesn't belong to one of them?
