I hope this forum is successful. I have missed responding and receiving responses. Poem on!

Be My Guest, Mr. Frost

By now you know these woods are mine.
I watched you from not far behind
as you were pondering the snow
and I, the county easement line.

My village isn’t far from here,
but there I see no foxes, deer,
no horses stopping just to rest
at this or any time of year.

Next time you stop, may I suggest
you walk to where the view is best.
The air is clean, the climb is steep,
the sights breathtaking. Be my guest.

I come here nightly in my sleep
into these woods so dark and deep,
so beautiful I almost weep,
so beautiful I sometimes weep.

Twas Brillig

Brillig, for cooking,
you broil and grill
designed to not burn
but to cook as you will.

Brillig, a mood
where one's teeth are grinding
and one's mind is churning
with brilliance that's blinding

Brillig, a cleaning pad,
wool, made of steel,
along with ground stone.
Cleaning power's unreal.

Brillig, a fuel
you can light really fast
It's as bright as the sun.
All in all: unsurpassed.

Slithy: a sly,
shy, conniving youngfellow
with teeth that are green
and large eyes that are yellow.

Tove, a small inlet
that's sheltered and small.
In fact, its so tiny
it's not there at all.

So there, Lewis Carroll,
a short definition
of some of your words
in my own composition.

Testing one two three...I'm trying to see if I'm posting at the right place. Here goes try two.

Talk to a Dead Poet-Day 8-November 2012 PAD Challenge

May Sarton by Lauren Dixon

May, how did I miss you
in the Sixties? Could it be
because I was beautiful,
head strong, in San Francisco
during flower power, smoking
pot, cutting school, making
my mother crazy?

No, it was because I wasn’t
supposed to find you
until she died. She wrote
hundreds of quotes on
five by seven cards,
so many were yours. I bought
all your out-of-print books,
to learn more about her,
and learn I did-her
thoughts and opinions
on many subjects, but mostly
about love,
and the human condition.

May, I’m sorry I missed you
in the Sixties, but glad I found
your poems, and,
“A House by the Sea,”
in two thousand five.
You were a comfort,
I heard her speaking
through you to me
in each word, your wisdom,
her wisdom, profound,
and long overdue.

Last time to try to post this one: Do I need to add that it's my response from "Stopping by Woods..."?

Be My Guest, Mr. Frost

so beautiful I sometimes weep.

* * *
This isn't a new one, but fit perfectly:
Nobody

Nobody wants to be a nobody, Miss Emily.
That’s just a claim we make when we fear
danger of dismissal, invisibility. Sure,
it worked for Odysseus, telling the Cyclops
he was Nobody, a perfect joke when
the neighbors came rushing to his howls,
but remember that while within earshot,
still within a stone’s throw, he couldn’t resist
yelling his real name, revealing his homeland,
danger be damned. Nobody asks to be
everyone to everybody, but let me be
someone. Know my name without prompts,
who I am, whose I am, where I call home.
If you call me sweetheart because you
have forgotten my name, I will surely know.

Alegria Imperial

Day 8: talking to a poet

(Svetlana Marisova asks)

"blackbird
what visions sustain
your song?"

(My response)

the wind
to the bamboo
a whisper

stillness
to a blue heron
twilight rain

in the pond
a lotus flower the turtle
loves

a sunset
the flame in the heart
of a briar rose

of such visions, Svetlana,
its many songs not one from
a coal heart

blackbird

I'm a little behind, just getting caught up. I also responded to Mr. Poe, who was so haunted by the Raven. But I'm currently writing TwitFic, so everything is 140 characters or fewer, hence the short form.

A winged tormentor did impart such sadness on your gentle heart.
But twas the love of Lenore still, just sent through wings & beak & quill.
