Are magazines REALLY on their way out?

Postby kellyspashon » Fri Aug 24, 2012 11:47 am

I've been in publishing (from the HR side) now for over six years, and in this world of writers, buyers, sellers and wannabes the conversation seems to be the same, "print magazines will soon be a distant memory, like rotary phones and human contact" (my words) but hopefully my point is being made.

What I'd like to know is, what is the truth? When I go into Barnes & Nobel, there are waves of magazines on anything from dart throwing to snow shoes for pit balls (I don't really know about this last one, but as a pet owner that sounds really funny - but hopefully, again, you get my point). If these types of magazines are withstanding this technological insurgence, then is there really and truly a problem? Are print magazines going to be okay?

What, pray tell, is a "pit ball"? And what is the "HR Side"? Finally, where do you find a "Barnes and Nobel"?
