How do I get rid of big ugly rectangle?

Postby LMGilbert » Thu Nov 03, 2011 9:56 am

I've tried editing my profile to get rid of this, but have not succeeded. I used to have a graphic image or a photo identifyng my posts. That has disappeared, which is fine, but in its place is a big ugly rectangle with the words "user avatar" (I think) in the corner. It takes up a lot of space, & I'd like to just have my name, not an image. What do I do?

I'm surprised that maia didn't post the steps she used to post her own avatar …

User Control Panel -> Edit Profile -> Edit Avatar. Select an image of less than 80x80 pixels and upload it.

If you don't have editing software (like Photoshop) on your computer, PM me for my e-mail address so that you can send your selected image, and I'll edit it down for you.

So a large rectangle is more annoying that my face? Hmm. There's hope …

Thank you pls. Actually I get to see other people's avatar/image, and nobody's is anywhere near as annoying as my big ugly rectangle. I will scout out an 80x80 pixel image appropriate to my needs.
